9/4/2010 The Raymond Rockets rallied for 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th to eliminate the Lastrup Lakers from the Class C State Tournament Saturday in Bird Island.  The final was 7-6.  The Lakers built a 4-0 lead after 2 1/2 innings on rbi's from Dave Woitalla , Chad Weiss, Dan Saehr and Scott Janson.  Raymond scored twice in 5th to make it 4-2.  The Rockets ties the game with 2 runs in the bottom of the 8th.  In the top of the 9th, Lastrup regained the lead as Chad Weiss led of with a single, stole 2nd and scored on Dave Woitalla's rbi infield single.  After a Shawn Fischer base hit, Dan Saehr dropped down a squeeze bunt to score pinch runner Dustin Schmaltz to make it 6-4.  Raymond got a lead off single in the bottom of the 9th, and then Brett Kramer, who relieved starter Todd Robinson in the 8th, hit 2 consecutive batters to load the bases with no outs.  Reggie Litke relieved Kramer and was greeted by a 2-run single to tie the game at 6-6.  The next batter, Kyle Knott, singled to right to bring home the deciding run.  The Lakers ended up playing 5 games in the State tournament, with 3 of those decided by 1-run.  Lastrup beat Essig 10-0 in 8 innings in the 1st round, then beat Luverne 3-2.  In the 3rd round, Sacred Heart shut out the Lakers 3-0.  In game 4, Lastrup rallied from a 6-1 defecit in the 9th by scoring 7 runs and beat Big Lake Friday night 8-7. Raymond, the Region 9C runnerup, will advance and play Howard Lake Sunday at 1:00 pm in Bird Island.   Raymond beat Howard Lake 3-0 in the 3rd round of the tournament on August 29th in Bird Island.  Lastrup finishes their season in the top 6 in Class C with a record fo 24-8.  Great year Lakers!
