The Avon Lakers pounded the Pierz Brewers 17-1 in 7 innings on Wednesday night at Hellie Field in Pierz behind Home Runs from Caleb Curry, Will Kleinschmitt and Connor Huberty.  The game was scoreless until the bottom of the 3rd as the two starting pitchers, Brian Kiel for the Brewers and Kyle Collins for the Lakers were sharp early on.  But in the home half of the 3rd, Brian Kiel stroked a 2-out double down the left field line and Dylan Kummet followed with an rbi single to bring him in and give the Brewers a 1-0 lead after 3 innings.  In the top of the 4th, Josh Becker led off with a single and went to 3rd on Matt Pichelmann's hit-and-run base hit.  Reed Voit came up and hit a smash towards 3rd, where Brewers 3rd baseman Mike Poser made a diving stop and was able to get a force out at 2nd, but Becker score on the play and it was 1-1.  Carter Huberty then came up and hit a ball back to the pitcher Brian Kiel, who wheeled and threw to 2nd for what appeared to be the beginning of an inning-ending double play.  But instead the ball was dropped at 2nd and both runners were safe.  Jon Bauer then singled to put Avon ahead 2-1.  After Kiel got Matt Meyer to fly out to left fielder Eric Boser for the second out,  Caleb Curry smashed a 3-run homer to make it 5-1.  Taylor Holthaus then singled and scored from 1st on a double off the wall in left by Will Kleinschmitt to make it 6-1.  In the bottom of the 4th, Kyle Collins issued a 1-out walk to Chuck Boser but then got out of the inning on a beautifully turned 5-4-3 (Meyer to Huberty to Voit) double play.  The Avon offense then went right back to work in the top of the 5th, plating another 6 runs.  With lefty reliever Joe Strauch now on the mound, spelling Brian Kiel, the Lakers loaded the bases on 3 consecutive walks.  Strauch got Jon Bauer on strikes but then Matt Meyer lined a 2-run single, Taylor Holthaus had a sacrifice fly, a wild pitch brought in a runs before Logan Meyer relieved Strauch.  Will Kleinschmitt blasted a 2-run Homer over the 345 foot marker in right-center to make it 12-1.  Collins then threw hi s last inning in the bottom of the 5th, giving up a 1-out single to Alvin Kimman and a 2-out walk to Brian Kiel before getting a pop out to shortstop Caleb Curry to end the 5th.  Logan Meyer retired the Lakers in order in the top of the 6th while Jon Bauer took over for Collins in the bottom of the 6th and allowed only a 1-out walk.  In the top of the 7th, Avon put the game away with another big inning, this time scoring 5 times.  Taylor Holthaus made it 13-1 with an rbi double, Josh Becker drove in 2 runs with a double of his own to make it 15-1 and then Connor Huberty blasted a 2-run homer over the wall in left-center to make it 17-1.  Will Kleinschmitt then pitched the bottom of the 7th and struck out the side on just 11 pitches to end the game with a 17-1 final score.
