About an hour after completing a 5-4 win over the Aitkin Steam in a suspended game, the Flensburg Falcons quickly packed up and made the short drive to Swanville to face the Swans in the West Play-In game.  The win over Aitkin moved the Falcons to 4-9 this season, an identical record to the Swans.  The Play-In game was played in Swanville because they had swept Flensburg during the season series.  The Swans got on the scoreboard first in their half of the 1st inning when Jordon Sales led off with a single, stole 2nd and went to 3rd on a hit by Brent Barthel.  Swanville was able to execute a double steal, with Sales sliding in safely at the plate as the ball was bobbled.  Falcons starter Sam Nagel then got a double play ball t end the 1st with the Swans up 1-0.  Flensburg threatened in the to of the 2nd, getting hits from Ike Thoma, a sacrifice bunt by Anthony Vetter and a Brent Carry single.  Swans starter Troy Evans got out of trouble with a pair of ground outs to end the inning.  Nagel allowed a 2-out single in the bottom of the 2nd to Troy Evans but then got a strikeout to end the inning with Swanville still ahead 1-0.  The Falcons took the lead in the top of the 3rd on a lead-off double by Travis Wenzel, a walk to Braden Backowski and then a sacrifice bunt by Evan Athman put men at 2nd and 3rd with 1 out.  Dylan Lukasavitz tied the game with a sacrifice fly to score Wenzel and make it 1-1, and then Ike Thoma lined a double into the right field corner to bring in Backowski with the go-ahead run and it was 2-1 Flensburg. The Swans had a potential tying rally snuffed out by some great Falcons defense in the bottom of the 3rd.  Sam Nagel walked the first batter of the inning Carter Loven, who then stole 2nd.  A ground out to 2nd moved Loven to 3rd with 1 out.  Nagel then got Myron Ripplinger to fly out to shallow center, preventing Loven from tagging up and scoring.  With 2 outs and the tying run at 3rd, Brent Barthel smashed a wicked line drive which was caught on a great diving catch by 3rd baseman Ike Thoma to end the inning.  The Falcons added to their lead in the 4th when Brent Carry singled, Andy Marod fouled out to the catcher, then back-to-back walks to Sam Nagel and Travis Wenzel filled the bases.  Braden Backowski cleared the bases with a double and the Falcons led 5-1.  Brent Barthel took over from Troy Evans and got the final two outs without any more damage.  Zach Gutormson led off the bottom of the 4th with a single, but was forced at 2nd on a grounder by Austin Johnson.  Levi Beseman then singled, and a wild pitch advance Johnson to 3rd.  Beseman remained at 1st on the wild pitch.  As Beseman attempted to steal 2nd, Falcons catcher Braden Backowski instead threw behind the runner at 3rd and picked off Johnson for the 2nd out.  Troy Evans then walked but Sam Nagel got an inning-ending strikeout to keep it 5-1.  The Falcons added 2 more in the 5th when Ike Thoma led off with a single and scored on an Anthony Vetter rbi double.  Vetter eventually scored on a 2-out error to make it 7-1.  Swanville got the next run with a bases-loaded walk to Carter Loven, scoring Austin Johnson to make it 7-2.  Flensburg then brought in Luke Thoma to take over from Sam Nagel.  Thoma got a inning-ending force out and after 6 innings, Flensburg led 7-2.  In the top of the 7th, Brent Barthel retired the first 2 hitters but then an error kept the inning alive, allowing Andy Marod to reach base.  Luke Thoma was then ht by a pitch Travis Wenzel walked and suddenly the bases were loaded with 2 outs.  Braden Backowski walked to force in a run and it was 8-2.  Austin Johnson then took over from Brent Barthel on the mound for the Swans.  Evan Athman singled past 2nd to drive in 2 runs and as the throw came in to 3rd base, it was off target for an error, allowing pinch-runner Brady Shelstad to score and make it 11-2.  In the bottom of the 7th, Swanville managed a 1-out base runner when Brent Barthel was hit by a Luke Thoma pitch but a strikeout and ground out followed and the inning ended.  In the top of the 8th, Ike Thoma was hit by a pitch to lead off, and after a strikeout, Brent Carry doubled.  Andy Marod then lifted a fly ball deep to center to allow Thoma to tag up and score on the sacrifice fly and it was 12-2.  In the bottom of the 8th, Thoma retired Levi Beseman on a fly out to left, then Troy Evans reached base on a Falcons error.  He moved up on a passed ball, but Thoma finished the game with back-to-back strikeouts to end the game with a Flensburg 12-2 win in 8 innings.  The loss ends the season for Swanville, while Flensburg becomes the #4 seed in the West and will go to #1 seed Sobieski on Saturday in the 1st Round.
