The Lastrup Lakers, the East's #1 seed, opened the Division Playoffs on Friday night at Hellie Field with an 8-1 win over the 4th seeded Pierz Bulldogs.  The Lakers got a Complete Game pitching performance from Brad Meyer, who allowed just an unearned run while scattering 4 hits and striking out 7.  Lastrup got on the board early, with 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st against Bulldogs starter Jonah Prokott.  With 1 out, Paul Herman singled, and then Brad Meyer and Jason Sadlovsky walked to fill the bases.  Prokott got a pop out to 2nd for out #2 but then hit Dan Saehr with a pitch to force in the first run, followed by a Scott Janson rbi single to give the Lakers a 2-0 lead.  The Lakers added a run in the 2nd when Reese Kapsner led off with a single and then wen to 2nd on an errant pick off attempt.  Prokott again came close to getting out of the inning without allowing a run by getting a grounder to 3rd and a pop out to shortstop, but then Brad Meyer connected for a deep rbi double to left-center to score Kapsner and make it 3-0.  The Lakers then took firm control of the game in the 3rd by scoring 4 more times.  Lastrup loaded the bases with no outs, then Preston Rocheleau singled to drive in a run with a second run also scoring on the play when the relay back to the infield rolled away to make it 5-0.  Later in the inning, Paul Herman and Brad Meyer laced rbi singles to make it 7-0.  The Bulldogs then brought in David Skiba to take over from Prokott, and Skiba got out of the bases-loaded, 1-out jam by getting a nicely turned 4-6-3 double play to end the inning.  Pierz then scored their only run off the game of Brad Meyer in the top of the 4th when Rolando Ramos led off by reaching base on an error, then stealing 2nd.  Ramos moved to 3rd on a ground-out, and Ryan Foreman's ground ball to 1st scored Ramos to make it 7-1.  Lastrup would score their final run in the bottom of the 6th when Skiba struck out the first 2 batters of the inning but then allowed base hits to Dan Saehr and a double to Mitch Woitalla.  Skiba then walked Preston Rocheleau to load the bases.  Reese Kapsner then was also walked, forcing in Dan Saehr and making it 8-1.  David Skiba pitched well in his relief work for the Bulldogs, going 5 2/3 innings and allowing just 1 run on 3 hits while striking out 7.  Paul Herman of the Lakers had 3 hits to lead Lastrup while Teddy Dehler had 2 hits, including a double, to pace the Bulldogs offense.  Lastrup will host the winner of the Buckman/Pierz Brewers game in a Winner's Bracket game on Sunday at 7:00 pm at Hellie Field.  Te Bulldogs will play at the Loser of the Brewers/Billygoats game in an elimination bracket game on Sunday.
