The Fort Ripley Rebels are headed back to the Region 8C Tournament after a 16-0 win in 7 innings over the Cuyuna Range Miners on Saturday in a North Division Elimination game.  16 runs seemed to be the magic number this year for the Rebels, who defeated the Miners in all 4 of their 2018 meetings, and they scored exactly 16 runs in 3 of those 4 games.  The Rebels scored at least 3 runs in 5 separate innings to dominate the game.  Logan Kalis had a big game offensively by going 5-5 with 2 doubles and driving in 7 runs. Nick Jelacie was able to score 4 runs and Brian Skluzacek had 2 hits, including a double with an rbi and driving in 2 runs. Ethan Branum started on the hill for the Rebels, hurling 3 innings, but it was middle reliever Luke Weber who got credit for the Win by going 2 innings of hitless, shutout relief with 4 strikeouts.  Nick Maslowski doubled for the Miners, who also got hits from Lance Herbst and Ben Jordon.  The Rebels will go to Nisswa to face the Lightning on Sunday at 1:00 pm for the North Division Championship and the North's #1 seed at the Region 8C  Tournament next weekend in Pierz.  A second game would follow in Nisswa if the Rebels win the first game.
