The Hutchinson Huskies defeated the Lastrup Lakers 12-2 in 7 innings on Sunday in Shakopee to eliminate the Lakers from the State Tournament.  Hutchinson  got off to a quick start with a 2-run bottom of the 1st, getting a 2-out rbi single from Jake Wendlund and then an rbi double from Evan Kohli.   The Huskies starter, lefty Evan Kohli, battled early control issues to give Lastrup several scoring opportunities.  Kohli issued 6 walks through the first 3 innings, but Lastrup was only able to capitalize on that in the 3rd when they tied the game on a bases loaded walk to Reggie Litke and then a run-scoring ground out by Jason Sadlovsky.  Hutchinson regained the lead in the bottom of the 3rd when Jayden Juergenson doubled to left to plate Jayden Fleck to make it 3-2, and that extra-base hit also meant the end of the afternoon on the mound for starter Chad Weiss.  Preston Rocheleau took over from Weiss and got out of the inning without any further damage as the 3rd inning came to a close with Hutchinson leading 3-2.  In the top of the 4th, Reese Kapsner led off with an infield single.  After a strikeout, Chad Weiss singled down the left field line, sending Kapsner to 3rd and when the left fielder bobbled the ball for an error, Weiss sprinted into 2nd and suddenly the Lakers had the tying run at 3rd and the go ahead run at 2nd with 1 out.  Paul Herman lofted a fly ball to shallow left field where Hutchinson outfielder Matt Piechowski made a head-first diving catch.  Reese Kapsner had come almost all the way down the 3rd base line and had to hustle back to 3rd to avoid getting doubled off.  That catch turned out to be a significant one, preserving the lead as Kohli got an inning-ending strikeout to squash the scoring chances for the Lakers.  In the top of the 5th, Reggie Litke and Preston Rocheleau both collected opposite field singles but once again, Kohli danced out of trouble by getting his glove on the ball just enough to slow down a hard-hit drive by Reese Kapsner that appeared to be headed into center field for a hit.  But Kohli was able to retrieve the ball and just get Kapsner at 1st for the final out of the inning as Lastrup came up empty once again.  The Huskies then broke the game wide open in the bottom of the 5th, sending 12 men to the plate and scoring 8 times to make it 11-2.  The first run scored on an error,  then a sacrifice fly made it 5-2, a bases loaded walk forced in another run, then Matt Piechowski collected a 2-run single.  Matt Pichelmann, a draftee from Avon, took over from Preston Rocheleau.  Jayden Juergenson greeted him with an rbi single, then Jake Wendlund delivered 2 more runs with a hit and just like that, it was 11-2.  In the top of the 6th, Nate Janson led off with a single to left, Chad Weiss followed with an infield hit to put the first two men on base to start the inning.  After a fly out to left, an error on a ball hit by Brad Meyer loaded the bases with 1 out for Lastrup.  But Evan Kohli reached back and got back-to-back strikeouts to leave the bases full and pushing the number of Lakers left stranded to 12.  With the score still 11-2 headed to the bottom of the 7th, Lastrup turned the pitching duties over to Reggie Litke.  Jayden Fleck led off the inning with a sharp single.  Matt Piechowski added another hit and then Jayden Juergenson drilled his 4th hit of the game, plating Fleck and ending the game by the 10-run rule with a 12-2 final score.  The Lakers season comes to an end with a record of 19-4.  Hutchinson advances to the Sweet 16 and a match-up with Sleepy Eye next Saturday.
