The Avon Lakers stayed unbeaten with a 6-5 win over the Lightning in Nisswa on Sunday.  The Lakers took a 2-0 lead in the 2nd when Will Kleinschmitt led off with a double and was brought in on a double by Josh Becker.  Reed Voit’s ground out later in the inning allowed Becker to score.  The Lightning got a solo Homer by Jason Roepke in the bottom of the 4th to make it 2-1.  It stayed that way until the 7th when Avon scored 3 runs on a 2-run double by Taylor Holthaus and a run-scoring ground out by Riley Voit to make it 5-1.   Nisswa then had a 2-run inning of their own in the bottom of the 7th when Chris Pederson, Tyler Wittwer and Adam Hardy all singled with no outs to load the bases.  A double play ball allowed Pederson to score and a Lakers error brought in a 2nd run to make it 5-3.  In the bottom of the 8th, Jeremiah Piepkorn belted a solo shot to make it 5-4.  Avon got that run back in the top of the 9th on a sacrifice fly by Riley Voit and it was 6-4.  Adam Hardy would score in the last of the 9th on a hunt play when he realized home plate wasn’t being covered and raced home, but Nisswa was unable to score again against Avon reliever Matt Pichelmann, who preserved the 6-5 win for Avon.
